KuMeKo Forest Oy is an agile, growing forest service company founded in 2012. In its growth efforts, the company relies on the support of Rajobit’s intelligent automation.
Forestry company KuMeKo Forest Oy produces high-quality wood chips for industrial boilers used in heat and power plants as well as for farm use. The company also supplies timber and pulpwood to the sawmill and process industries. Operating at the forefront of technology, the company has rapidly grown its business in recent years with the support of Rajobit’s intelligent automation.
Automation streamlines routine tasks and frees up time
KuMeKo Forest first automated its routine work phases with Rajobit’s intelligent automation in the autumn of 2020. The first automation solution was introduced to manage data flow related to timber procurement.
– “The certificates of measurement in our timber trade used to be entered into the system manually. It took a lot of employee time,” says Amanda Peltomäki, Operations Manager at KuMeKo Forest Oy.
Now, automation processes emails, collects the necessary data, and sends it to invoicing – flawlessly and reliably. The intelligent automation solution was fine-tuned in collaboration with Rajobit to ensure it works without errors.
– “From our perspective, the automation process was effortless. We can trust it to perform its tasks with precision. There’s no need to monitor it constantly,” Peltomäki says.
“We can trust the automation to perform its tasks with precision.”
Collaboration with Rajobit was smooth and straightforward
– “We had excellent communication with Henri Tuomivaara and John Alander from Rajobit throughout the project. All our questions were answered convincingly and professionally. It felt like no question was too silly for them,” Peltomäki says, referring to Rajobit’s RPA Developer Henri Tuomivaara and Sales Director and Partner John Alander.
The intelligent automation solution frees up employees’ time to focus on their core tasks, says Amanda Peltomäki, Operations Manager at KuMeKo Forest Oy.
– “The automation was acquired to make our work easier, and that’s exactly what it has done. Employees now have time to focus on their primary responsibilities while the automation handles routine tasks. There’s no point in using employee time for tasks that can easily be assigned to automation,” Peltomäki says.
New automation solutions drive development forward
The company already uses two intelligent automation solutions, and a third is currently being planned. The second solution compiles reports and sends them directly to the accounting system.
– “Once again, this is exactly the kind of task that automation excels at,” says Amanda Peltomäki.
The extent of the reports that automation can generate using company databases positively surprised KuMeKo Forest Oy, Peltomäki says. The company has identified additional work phases that could benefit from automation. Even in its subsidiaries, KuMeKo Recycling Oy and Aava Shipping Oy, there is increasing interest in identifying tasks that could be automated in the future.
– “Previously, we didn’t really question how we performed routine tasks. Now that we’ve implemented automation, it’s easier to recognize different process phases that could be done in a smarter way,” Peltomäki says.
– “We are already eagerly waiting for our next automation solution.”
